House of Bread is a locally-owned micro bakery based out of Salt Lake City, Utah dedicated to baking delicious, naturally fermented breads. Declarative paired up with House of Bread to create a cohesive brand identity and accompanying website, complete with custom illustrations, to give their business a distinct online presence.

House of Bread was looking for a brand identity that would capture the energy and warmth of the bakery, and a website that would allow them to tell their story and share their love of bread with the local community. In full trust, our team was given the space to create a concise, yet stimulating visual system that resonated with the bakery’s passion and goals.

our solution

After establishing a brand identity for House of Bread, our team expanded on the new visual system by building the bakery an engaging website. To capture House of Bread’s passion for hand-made breads and sharing their process with the community, the website needed to feel purposeful and grounded, yet match House of Bread’s hospitable openness. So, we merged structure with playfulness, adding expressive illustrations—hand-drawn to reinforce the bakery’s handcrafted quality—and animated elements.

The unique background of this project allowed our team to develop a brand that felt distinctly human, and that captured the heart of the story House of Bread wanted to tell. They were looking for a website to share their passion with the community; we created one that fulfilled not only this, but that streamlined their ordering process, and that would serve as a growth point for future scaling.
